Are you at a stage where you need to consider child care options for your child? Whether it is because you need to return to work full time or part time, it is important that your child is being taken care of so that he or she is being educated properly. It is also important that your child is happy and comfortable in the environment that they are in, as some children are in childcare from a newborn age right up until just before primary school. There are a few different options when it comes to child care in the Kapiti, Hutt Valley and Horowhenua regions, and in this article we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each. Choosing which child care option that will best suit your child will not only depend on these advantages and disadvantages, but will also depend on what kind of budget your have allocated to childcare. The first option available for Horowhenua, Hutt Valley and Kapiti childcare is to hire the services of a private nanny. Hiring a nanny will provide your child or children with around the clock care. Not only will your child receive full time care, but the nanny will be able to provide one-on-one undivided attention to your child – no having to chase around several children at the same time. However, this means that your child won’t be able to grow in a social environment with other children. And also, nannying is probably the most expensive option, as they charge at an hourly rate. Your next option is to put your child into an early childcare centre. Unlike hiring a nanny, this will give your child the opportunity to interact and play with other children – this is developing their social skills in time for primary school. Early childcare centres generally take from 20 kids up to 40 kids in their centre, and they will have enough early child care teachers to have a good child to teacher ratio. As well as the social aspect, childcare centres usually get the kids to participate in a range of local outings and activities, such as library days, arts and crafts and more – allowing your child to grow and develop new interests. Your final option is in home childcare. Horowhenua, Kapiti Coast or Hutt Valley in home childcare is where you bring your child to an in home child carer, and they take care of your children for you. The caregiver is usually a mother herself, and will take on between 3 to 10 children. This option is quite similar to early childcare centres, as your child is in a social environment where they take part in a range of activities and excursions throughout the week. The great thing about in home childcare is that the caregiver only has a few children in her care at a time, so that she can handle and give attention to all of the children she has. Both the early childcare centre and in home child care options are the option to go for if you cannot afford to hire a full time nanny. No matter what option you decide to go with, it is important for your child to take a look at the centre or meet the nanny or caregiver before making any arrangements – it is important for your child to be happy and comfortable in the environment they are put in, and it will be easier for them to settle in. |
